A Sufjan Christmas

I believe a song by Sufjan Stevens has appeared on all my Christmas compilations and there's a reason why: Simply because he truly knows how to capture the feeling of the season without gettinng cheesy. Too bad there aren't any knew songs this year, bur ther are plenty of old ones we can enjoy:

Sufjan Stevens - That Was The Worst Christmas Ever

Sister Winter is a truly fantastic song. When I got the Christmas box set, I pretty much skipped over the religious and somber tunes for the fun ones like "Get Behind Me Santa!" but this one has popped up on my mp3 player quite a few times this year and it is always a treat.

I share your sentiments. Sufjan's Christmas tunes are fantastic. I love his arrangements of old tunes and the new ones he has composed. His good friend, Rosie Thomas, did the same last year. Her album is probably my favourite single Christmas album in several years. It has what I believe is the greatest new Christmas song in twenty-to-thirty years - 'Why Can't It Be Christmastime All Year'! And her arrangements of 'Silent Night' and 'O Come O Come Emmanuel' will shake the hardened heart of the biggest Scrooge you know. Make sure you get this.
